The Well Child Journey

Well Child was initially conceived in 1998 as part of a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Grant, “Healthy Schools, Healthy Lives,” in partnership with Memphis City Schools, the University of Tennessee at Memphis, and TLC Family Care Health Plan.  At the conclusion of this grant program, its executive director and nurse practitioner, Karen J. Pease, incorporated Well Child Health Screening Services in Memphis, Tennessee to continue the invaluable work of offering preventive healthcare to children at schools.  The name was changed to Well Child, Inc. in 2004.

Today, Well Child has grown into the largest school health care provider in the state of Tennessee providing an array of services to more than 30 school districts in Tennessee and Mississippi.
